The one-day Showmen’s Guild Think Tank event for 2018 was held in Yatala, QLD on 11 January. Both Julie Krieger, ASA Executive Officer, and Dr Rob Wilson, ASA Chair, attended, representing the ASA. In addition, the event was attended by ASA Director, David Peters (in his role as ASCNSW President) and outgoing Director Karen Wolf (in her role as Executive Officer of QCAS).
The program for the day is shown in the image below. The ASA presentation (noted as given by Rob, but delivered by Julie) focused on the work undertaken over the past 12 months as well as on outlining plans for the year ahead. A strong emphasis was placed on strength in unity and attendees were encouraged to join the ASA mailing list in order to be kept up to date.
The event was attended by approximately 180 people, the majority being committee members from regional shows from around the country. An expo of Guild members and their entertainment was set up outside the venue and attended by the delegation prior to lunch. The focus of the event was on sharing practical advice on running successful and sustainable Shows.
The event was deemed successful and from an ASA perspective raised the profile of the organisation amongst many regional Shows representatives.
