The Serpentine Jarrahdale Food and Farm Alliance is the newest Agricultural Show in Western Australia. At only their second show, they hosted an inaugural Young Farmers’ Challenge. running two age divisions, high school (12-17) and National qualification (18-35).
The four high school aged teams, including teams from the local pony club and Court Grammar School in Mundijong, and two National qualification aged teams, faced challenges seen at state and national competitions such as strainer post construction, first aid and sheep tag sorting. The teams also conquered some more uniquely Serpentine-Jarrahdale challenges of pumpkin bowling and alpaca wool bale rolling.
Thanks to Anne Stroud, RASWA Councillor, and WA Next Generation for their assistance running the event.
