We are pleased to inform you that Agricultural Shows Australia, in collaboration with state and territory show societies, has successfully submitted a comprehensive report to the Senate Economics References Committee. This submission addresses the challenges and implications of the new ATO reporting requirements for not-for-profit entities, particularly focusing on their impact on our agricultural shows.
The submission highlights key concerns, including the increased administrative burden on volunteer-run shows, the complexity of compliance, and the potential strain on our community events. It also proposes recommendations to ease these pressures, such as extending compliance deadlines and providing financial support to smaller shows.
We encourage all members to read the submission to understand the collective efforts and proposed solutions that aim to safeguard the future of agricultural shows across the country.
We will be attending the public hearing for the senate inquiry on Tuesday 22nd October in Canberra. We look forward to speaking with the senators from the economics committee who are running this inquiry to ensure that they are aware of the implications these changes will have on a large volume of agricultural shows.
