TThe Australian Government is providing $8.3 million for the Supporting Agricultural Showmen and Women Program.
The funding will provide operational support to travelling agricultural showmen and women to help them get back on the road and provide valuable services to agricultural shows.
Of the $8.3 million available to support travelling showmen and women:
- $7.8 million is available to cover showground rental expenses incurred at an eligible agricultural show by travelling show businesses from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2023.
- $0.5 million is available to support showmen’s guilds and associations to provide a moratorium or to reimburse their membership fees incurred in 2021 and 2022. This funding will reduce expenses being incurred by travelling show businesses
Eligible agricultural show societies that have held an event between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2023 will apply for funding through the Victorian Showmen’s Guild. Instead of collecting rent from travelling showmen and women for this period, eligible agricultural show societies will apply to the Victorian Showmen’s Guild to access funding to cover showground rental expenses.
- Where an agricultural show was cancelled less than two weeks prior to their scheduled show date, showground rental expenses incurred by travelling showmen and women are also eligible.
- The Victorian Showmen’s Guild is expected to be ready to accept applications from May 2022.
