The countdown to the 144th Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) presented by RACQ is on, with the gates to the state’s most iconic event opening on August 12.

Last year the RNA celebrated the long-awaited return of Queensland’s biggest event after two years of pandemic cancellations.

The historic comeback show in 2022 was warmly embraced and supported by the community, who had waited more than 1,000 days for the historic event to return, reuniting city and country.

With the events sector bouncing back to pre-pandemic popularity, the RNA is looking forward to staging a fantastic event.

First staged in 1876, the Ekka unites Queenslanders like no other event, bringing the country to the city to celebrate and showcase agriculture.

The Ekka not just champions our farming families on the land but also provides interactive agricultural learning experiences.

The Show is the state’s largest classroom offering curriculum aligned educational competitions.

These competitions explore food production, technology, innovation, and environmental agricultural practices as the world builds a sustainable future.

The Ekka doesn’t just bring the traditions of show together, it also continues to evolve, grow and nurture new audiences.

This year our competitions have attracted huge entries – back to pre-pandemic levels.

Despite the digital age, where children spend hours online, Ekka’s next generation is thriving.

We have young people pursuing some of the show’s oldest competitions, from cookery to cake decorating, quilt making, blacksmithing, and woodchopping.

This year’s Ekka will also feature amazing world-class entertainment, together with incredible food, animals and sustainable agricultural learning experiences.

Plus, a new Ekka App, featuring Milo’s Magic – an exciting immersive augmented reality experience, which will prove a hit with the whole family.

The 2023 Ekka will run from August 12-20. Learn more at ekka.com.au
