Mark your calendars, Agricultural Shows Australia (ASA) is delighted to announce that its 2027 National Conference will be held in Canberra, aligning with the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canberra Show — a once-in-a-century milestone for one of the country’s most iconic regional events.

Set to take place in February 2027, with conference dates likely to be 17–19 February, delegates will also be invited to experience the Royal Canberra Show on Saturday 20 February, celebrating its centenary year. This landmark event promises not only exceptional learning and networking opportunities but also the chance to witness a truly authentic, community-driven show that has grown by an impressive 33% in just the last year.

With planning now underway, ASA and the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society (RNCAS) are working in close collaboration to deliver a conference experience that blends heritage, innovation, and future-focused thinking — all set in the heart of the Nation’s Capital.

“To have the ASA National Conference hosted in Canberra during our centenary year is a significant honour and strong recognition of the legacy and future of the Royal Canberra Show,” said Adelina La Vita, CEO of RNCAS. “This is an opportunity for the national show community to come together in the nation’s capital, share knowledge, and shape the future of agricultural shows in Australia.”

Toni Rolls, President of RNCAS, added: “Hosting the ASA community in our 100th year allows us to not only reflect on the past but to showcase the innovation and connection agricultural shows continue to foster in modern society.”

A Legacy of Impact, a Future of Possibility

The ASA National Conference is held every two years and is the premier national gathering for the Australian agricultural show movement. With show society representatives, rural ambassadors, youth leaders, sponsors, and government stakeholders in attendance, the conference is the perfect place to build capacity, share stories, and spark new ideas to ensure the vibrancy and longevity of agricultural shows.

The 2025 ASA Conference on the Gold Coast left delegates inspired and energised. Testimonials from participants highlight the incredible value of being involved:

“Thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of the conference. The sessions were top notch, from start to finish. I learned so much from all of you. Paul from R.M. Williams was the highlight for me… He made one statement that will stay with me for a long time — ‘We’re at our worst when we try to be all things to all people, and we’re at our best when we remember who we are and why we do what we do.’”
Ray Allison, Chief Development & Strategy Officer, Indiana State Fair (USA)

“The collaboration and thoughtfulness in the organisation of the ASA Conference 2025 was inspirational. Allowing time for networking with so many passionate people brought about relevant opportunities to tell our story and listen to others.”
Maxine Wylie, President, Canning Agricultural, Horticultural & Recreational Society, WA

“The impact of this event on young people passionate about the future of Agricultural Shows is truly invaluable. The encouragement and support from ASA have been instrumental… I highly recommend seizing these experiences — you won’t regret it!”
Shaun Sandilands, Deputy Chairperson, RNA Future Directions Committee, QLD
