The 2024 Melbourne Royal Show was held over 11 days from Thursday 26 September to Sunday 6 October at Melbourne Showgrounds, Victoria, Australia.
On nine of eleven event days, more than 30,000 people came through the gates with six of these event days attracting more than 40,000, making this iconic event one of the most consistent on record for daily attendances, despite having a number of wet and windy days.
The Melbourne Royal Show has long been an important Victorian major event that contributes significant economic and community value to the State. The event attracts more than 400,000 people over the 11 days and contributes a total value of $275 Million in Gross State Output to the State and more than 1000 full-time equivalent jobs including 411 directly.
The size and scale of the Melbourne Royal Show is like no other Victorian major event, highlighted this year with more than:
- 5000 animals onsite over the 11 days, from bulls, horses, alpacas, piglets, goats, puppies and everything in between.
- 10,000 entries in agricultural and leisure competitions
- 2200+ Melbourne Royal blue ribbons presented across the various competitions
- 900 businesses involved
- 1200 volunteers assisting us to plan and deliver the Show from serving on organising committees, or as judges and stewards, to customer service roles
- 4000 media clippings
- 1 million unique visitors to royalshow.com.au
The Melbourne Royal Show has grown and evolved over the past 176 years to be a unique and valuable platform to celebrate agriculture, inspire excellence through competition and bring communities together.
The 2025 Melbourne Royal Show will be held at Melbourne Showgrounds from Thursday 25 September to Sunday 5 October.
