It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the sudden passing of Mr Bill Trend, Councillor of the Royal Agricultural Society of WA and a much-loved figure in the agricultural shows community.

Bill’s contribution to our movement was remarkable. Beginning his national involvement in 2000 with the Federal Council of Agricultural Societies (FCAS), he went on to serve as the last President of FCAS before its merger into our current body, Agricultural Shows Australia (ASA). His leadership and vision helped shape the strong national organisation we are today.

Bill’s dedication was unwavering. He attended every National Championship over the past 25 years, often accompanied by his long-standing friend, Ian Blades. His meticulous approach ensured our national regulations remained to the highest standard. When the Poultry and Alpaca competitions were introduced, Bill – together with Ian – authored their regulations, ensuring their place in the national program.

His passion for agricultural shows extended well beyond the Nationals. Bill travelled widely, regularly attending major royal shows and countless regional shows across the country. His extraordinary knowledge, commitment, and warm friendships touched many throughout the show movement.

Bill will be remembered not only for his service and wisdom but also for his generosity of spirit. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his partner Anne, and to his family and friends at this difficult time.
