At the recent Perth Royal Show, Dr Rob Wilson AM was formally awarded the Agricultural Shows Australia (ASA) Honour Award, recognising his exceptional vision, service, leadership, collaboration, and impact across the Australian show movement.

Dr Wilson’s leadership was instrumental during the COVID-19 pandemic when shows across the nation faced cancellation and uncertainty. His advocacy in Canberra secured millions in federal funding, ensuring the survival of more than 580 royal, regional, and country shows — safeguarding the future of the show movement.

The Award celebrates the very qualities Dr Wilson embodies:

    • Service – tireless dedication to the show community.
    • Leadership – guiding through times of challenge.
    • Collaboration – uniting diverse voices into a strong national network.
    • Legacy – leaving a lasting impact on generations of show organisers and participants.

Fittingly, the presentation took place in Rob’s home state of Western Australia, where he was honoured by his peers John Snowball and Robyn Sermon on behalf of ASA.

On behalf of the ASA Board, members, and the entire show community, we extend our warmest congratulations to Dr Rob Wilson AM — a trailblazer of collaborative leadership whose legacy continues to sustain and strengthen agricultural shows across Australia.
