The 2024 Royal Adelaide Show was a resounding success, shining a spotlight on South Australia’s primary industries while providing an abundance of family-friendly fun.
The event, which attracted nearly 400,000 visitors over nine days, saw a noticeable increase in attendance compared to 2023. A standout moment came on the final Saturday of the Show, marking the second busiest day in over seven years, a true testament to the impressive lineup of events, displays, and competitions.
With a continued focus on promoting the achievements of primary industries, the Show welcomed more than 25,650 competitive entries across 51 categories. There were notable increases in the grains and fodder, led steers, cookery, and junior divisions, with young competitors accounting for an outstanding 25% of all entries.
Such an event wouldn’t be possible without the generous contributions from countless individuals and organisations across the state. The ongoing support enables the Show to generate more than $200 million in economic value annually and helps support more than 200 community groups, charities, schools, and industry associations throughout the year.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be an unforgettable year, marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Adelaide Show at the iconic Adelaide Showground. This historic venue has been the site of numerous significant moments in South Australia’s history, from housing the armed forces during World War II to serving as a local football club’s home ground, hosting legendary speedway and harness racing events, welcoming international music icons, and, of course, being the long-time home of the Royal Adelaide Show.
To mark this incredible milestone, the 2025 Show will be a grand celebration of the memories and moments created over the past century.
