Representing Victoria: Georgia Sieben (18)
Georgia is the Victorian state finalist at the 2021 Agricultural Shows Australia National Young Judges finals held at the Royal Queensland Show. Agricultural Shows of Australia sat down with Georgia to learn a bit about her dedication to dairy cattle parading.
I’m from a rural town situated in northern Victoria called Torrumbarry where I have grown up on a dairy farm. My love for the cows has stuck from a very young age. I’m currently on my first year of University studying animal and veterinary bioscience. After studying I hope to become an animal nutritionist.
My mum introduced me to showing cows as soon as I was old enough to participate and through all her knowledge I became equally as passionate about dairy cattle showing as she was.
I have always loved the parading side of cattle shows and doing the best I can to make my animals look to the best of their ability, this competition allows young leaders like my self to help improve and learn more each time they step into the ring which is why I decided to compete.
International dairy week does a great job a advertising the competition and encourages all youth to get involved with it and that was a big influence on me. In fact, in 2014 I was fortunate enough to attend World Dairy Expo.
At International Dairy Week in 2020 I won junior champion, senior champion and grand champion of the whole youth show.
My favourite show in Australia would have to be the Victorian Winter Fair because I prefer the cold weather and helps getting cows ready so much easier.
Most embarrassing or funny moment at a show would have to be letting a heifer go on way to the wash bay!
