The Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, through Goondiwindi Regional Council has distributed funds to local drought affected community organisations who deliver a range of local community events and activities that contribute to connectedness, social well-being and increase access to support services.
The Goondiwindi Pastoral & Agricultural Society received $11 000.00 from this funding, through a broad entertainment and exhibition base fitting the above agenda and aiming to once again bring the community together.
Despite the Goondiwindi Region being drought declared since 2014 the 142nd Annual Goondiwindi Show boasted an increase in gate numbers with 5000 patrons through the gate. The annual show focusing on entertainment that would bring families together and that would provide an interest point for everyone. The Drought funding was well received and allocated to the entertainment budget to bring the idea of two whole days of entertainment to life.
Thanks to valued sponsors and the partnership with the Goondiwindi Regional Council and allocation drought funding; patrons, sponsors, guest judges and even the Mayor declared it the best show yet.
With plans for the 2019 Goondiwindi Show well under way, despite the continued dry times and the lack of soaking rain the Goondiwindi P&A Show Society are determined to host another record event, spirits running high to continue with positivity for another year.
