The Bridgetown Agricultural Show is the longest running show in the South West, and this year will be celebrating its 130th anniversary.

The birthday celebrations will take place from 9am on November 24 with the annual show guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever.

As part of the birthday celebrations, Talison Minerals will be providing free entry for all children under the age of 12 if they are accompanied by an adult.

Trade stalls are also invited to trade into the evening to help create a birthday party atmosphere in the lead up to the evenings planned entertainment.

The birthday celebration theme has already started with this year’s cut-out, ‘Decorate-a-Hat’ now available at Ooh-La-Lollipop in Bridgetown.

The Children’s colouring competition is also now available at the Bridgetown Newsagency.

Bridgetown’s first agricultural show was held on December 10, 1885 and was formed for the purpose of stimulating healthy rivalry and competition and to improve stock breeding and farm management as well as raise resources in the district.

The Bridgetown Show committee and councillors work hard throughout the year to ensure the program is action packed and there is entertainment and activities available for everyone throughout the day and in the lead up to the fireworks display.

This year the Bridgetown High School Parents and Citizens Committee is hosting a Colour Fun Run and is looking forward to adding a lot of colour to everyone who takes on the challenge of the obstacle run.

There will also be a newly created Youth Zone for young people to hang out, listen to music as well as charge their phones when needed.

The Show schedule is now available online at www.bridgetownshow.com.au and will be in print soon.
